In Reply to: cast iron front axle - how important is it? Won't steel do? posted by Steve A. on Monday, March 31, 2003:
I too just paid money for a Craftsman lt1000 20hp with a steel axle. I'm to pick it up Monday (this is Friday) The 18hp has a cast iron axle but the gas tank is in the engine compartment and is puny (1.25 gal) whereas the 20 hp gas tank was 3 gal under the seat.
What did you end up buying??? Should I forgo the big gas tank and opt instead for the cast iron axle? I too live on a farm with uneven terrain.
Help me decide! I only have 2 days.
