is it a vangaurd motor. if it is i have the same one. i almost sounds like the vavle seats or bad. if it is like mine i has one major draw back. if you crank the rpm up to much the vavles start to flaot and hit the piston. the springs on them are to weak to work correctly. if you take a motor apart that has no ohv and get the springs out and put them in if they are the correct size. also on might there is an allen wrinch in the middle of the bolt and you have to loosen it up. it is a lock. then you take feller gauhes and and tighten the rocker arms until they are around .010 to .015 of an inch. on mine when i took it apart the vavles were way to loose. also before you do all of that clean the fly wheel and the coil really good. if it has pionts you might need to clean them also. to set the points on it you move the flywheel by hand untill they are at there widest possible of being open. then take the gauges and set them to about .018 to .020 of an inch. it might do if.
