I did get a brand new electic solenoid, but the replacement one, did have slightly different wiring than the original because it was made to replace several different ones. I wired how I thought it should be. I will review what I did. I dont see how this could cause the backfires, but I also dont fully unerstand what that solenoid does, or how it should operate. Do you know? I will also check my plug again to be sure, or try a new one.
This is a OHV 14Hp I/C briggs engine model 287707.
I am so close to getting this thing running. The tractor itself was only used for 1 year, and sat for next 8 or so years with no use.
I am pretty confident that I rebuilt the carb correctly. I dont think there is any adjustments to the valves. This is why i didnt know what to look for next.
The only way I know to cause a backfire, is gas getting into the exhaust by some bad timing.
Any other idea? Thanks for the help so far.
