My MTD from Lowe's did that and I used foam in a can[ Great Stuff ] and filled the hole around the bearing mounts for the blades. It helped a lot, but there is still debries that are blown out. I don't know about heat build up in the bearing because of this, however it is going on the second year with no problems.
