Ellen, I mow a 25 degree slope with my John Deere L120 with loaded rear 22" tires with no problem.
You can check the new JD L series out at the following url. Just copy and paste it into your browser.
http://www.deere.com/en_US/100series/
I used to mow this with a Yardman 15HP, but had to have chains on the smaller rear tires or it would begin spinning out.
Another suggestion is to check out Sears Garden Tractors at Sears.com. I belong to another tractor forum and Sears GTs are well spoken of by their owners.
You of course can also find excellent machines to do the job you want in Cub Cadet and John Deere, but you almost certainley need to get a Garden Tractor for the larger rear tires and this means paying out more money. Thats why I chose the new L series 120 model as it had the garden tractor tires and many other niceties for half the cost of a premium Deere or Cub.
Good luck in whatever you choose, and just be very very careful in mowing on this degree of slope, it is dangerous and not recommended by alot of owners and dealers alike, but its up to the individual to know his/her safety concerns and what the equipment will handle.
