Hi,
I just was given a sears tractor with a brigg OHC 14HP engine. The tractor sat for 8 years. The carberator was just all gummned up solid. No gas had a chance to flow. I rebuilt the carb, and it seems to work fine, gas flows nicely.
I am also changed the head gasket. I am trying to get it running. When i start it, it starts for a second or 2, then backfires. It wont run, and I dont know what elese to do. I was thinking the valves or timing was off to get gas in the exhaust for the backfire. The key on the flywheel is fine. Since this is an OHC engine, is there some valve adjustment I need to do?
