The syncros are inside the transmission. They help align the teeth on the gears so when you put it in gear the teeth slide together rather than try to bind on each other. You would want to go ask a dealer or small engine shop there opinion. The trans. would have to be removed and tore down to have them replaced so i would expect it to be somewhat expensive. Good luck.
