I'll try to give you some answers.

1. Width of sweeper - I assume you are referring to the Rotary Broom that mounts on the front. It is 51" wide.

2. Metal Cab - There "was" a metal cab made for the 318, as well as a canvas or vinyl-sided cab. Pretty much have to find one on the used market now, unless you can find one NOS (new old stock) at a dealer.

3. 2-stage blower vs 1-stage thrower - With a 2-stage, you can take your time to clear, even a small amount of snow. With a 1-stage, the ability of the unit to throw the snow is a function of the amount of snow intake there is. In otherwords, a small 1" or 2" snow fall requires faster ground speed to effectively "throw" the snow. Of course, 2-stage units are more $$$.

4. Hydraulics to the back - This requires a kit #BM16654, which tees into the existing circuits. About $150 from Deere.

5. With the amount of fluid consumed by the operation of the front blade, it has no affect at all on the speed of the tractor. Flow of fluid is what makes things happen within the transmission, and with any hydraulic attachment. As long as the volume of fluid is there to support the function, it does not affect either's ability to perform its function. If someone has experienced slow movement of the tractor with a blade mounted, there is another issue they have to contend with aside from having the blade attached.
