I had the same problem. Solution was to drain all old fuel out of tank, replace with new fuel. I also added Seafoam to the gas tank, oil, carburetor, and in spark plug holes - lots of white smoke came out of muffler that cleared up after awhile after the engine started up. The main problem though was that the wrong spark plugs were in the engine block - they weren't the right length.
