I have a 20-hp BS vertical shaft L-head engine which blew. The engine had only 3-years of service.
Crankshaft shows friction-caking from the connecting rod to the upper piston. The engine has always had adequate, clean oil and shows absolutely no other signs of being without oil -- no wear, etc.
Has anyone heard of any oil distribution or connecting rod problems with these B&S engines. Any service bulletins ?
Any suggestions for contacts with B&S or MTD ?
Appreciate it.
