Mine was doing that for two seasons, until it finally wouldn't drive and mow at the same time. I cleaned the elbow connection coming out of the gas tank with pool acid (it had a lot of rust constricting the fuel flow), and cleaned out the gas tank, replaced the fuel lines, and it roars!
