I need some advice..I own a 1986 Montgomery Wards(MTD)Lawn Tractor Model number TMO-33917A that I inherited from my father. The problem I am having is with the tractor in forward or reverse gear, it does not stop when pressing the clutch or setting the parking brake. I tried to adjust the disc brake, and found that the disc is being covered by transaxle oil. The questions that I have are: Has anyone experienced this type of problem before, and what was the resolution? If a new transaxle is needed, does anyone know about how much one goes for? I'm hoping that the tractor is repairable for a reasonable price, because I actually like this cheap little tractor. I eventually will be buying a ZTR mower, and would like to keep this one for light towing of my lawn trailer, and chipper. Thanks in advance for the help.
