From Sears service tech > Must be a Briggs engine. On new engines I have seen the factory use white grease on the helix but do this > purchase the top drive kit this has a revamped gear and shaft helix the old stuff was having the gear stick in the down position and stay there no matter how many times you hit the starter switch. cost less than $30- and fits a huge # of engines
