Have a Sears lawn tractor with a starter problem..Have removed the starter, cleaned it, replaced the nylon gear but it just spins when I try to engage(start) it. Tried a starter off an older model tractor with the same result. Possibly battery is not fully charged, would this make a difference? Starter seems to spin quite fast but gear will not slide up and engage the flywheel(?)..Could low battery cause this??? RPMs on starter need to be very fast??
