I've got a (1976?) JD210 with a 10 hp Kohler (K241AQS) that was rebuilt about four years ago. I've got a tiller, blade and a 47" deck. Overall, works well, but 10hp doesn't seem to do too well running the deck. The price of a newer mower and attachments is out of reach, as is $1300 for a new 16hp engine (Roy Padget's Small Engine Warehouse). To complicate things, the tractor has hydraulic lift which is powered from a shaft mounted to flywheel (original JD), so I need to stick with similar line of engine (which does make bolt patterns a non-issue)
Anybody know if I can just purchase/install a K341AQS shortblock (and actually have it work)? To my knowledge, oil pan, flywheel, etc are the same, and my current appear good. Any suggestions?
