From that vendor's website, it looks like at least some parts (bearings and shafts) are available in the market; so it looks like repairing an MTD spindle is possible.
Given that, do you have any tips on how to do it -- tools required, etc.?
Also, as I asked before, can a spindle be damaged by over-torquing the blade-attachement nut (or bolt)? What is the correct torque, if one is specified?
