Re: I agree with these guys. I have Cub, old Sears, JD GT275, and Kubota. If you have 5 acres of grass- you should look at a zero turn (fast)to cut mowing time. Scag Tiger Cub $6000. Look at what all the guys who do it for a living run. If you can't go that route - and determined to only spend $3000 - find a nice used Deere. I've seen nice JD345 Kawasaki twin / water cooled with 54" decks, about 400 hours for just over $3000- $4000. You will love it.
