First thing to do is give fuel system a complete going over, starting at tank, check for dirt/water in bottom of tank, plugged pickup/filter screen in tank(if tank has)loose fuel lines or hairline cracks in same, allowing pump to suck air, plugged restricted inline fuel filter,dirt/water in carb bowl & hi/low speed passages of carb or air leak where carb mounts to eng, after that I would suspect a weak/bad fuel pump, you'll have to look at carb carefully as your mod eng came with a 3 or 4 bolt carb,on either style carb, fuel pump is treated as a seperate item & pn's are different for pump/carb repair kits, pump parts are NOT included in carb rebuild kit, another thing to check, try installing 2 NEW plugs in eng & check for spark at both plugs, you may have a bad plug or ign coil going bad & eng only running on one cyl.
