: Some mowers, for example JD, require a change in blades depending on the type of mowing you are doing, but Sears says you can use the same blades to mulch/side discharge/ bag. Do different blades make that much difference, and if so, how can the Sears tractors do it all with one blade? Also, what brand is best at mulching and who bags the best? Thanks
Any machine will do the above, I think JD has their onw idea and that will cost you money. If you look at the blades some have differnet bends in the ends to make more or less air flow and others may have spring like things to kick up the grass agian. All of this is in an efort to get the grass to go through the blades agian and be cut into smaller peices. I personly have found that it really makes not differnece. I have an old cub cadet put a block of wood on the deck out and it makes it look like you sweep the yard with a vacume. and those are origional blades before multching and such was big. My JD push standard blade works well bagging or multhing. So it is a personl prefercnce if you think one is workig better than the other then it is. I dont think sears is trying to cheat you they are just telling it really does not matter.
