Hi Joe or jed1950;
I have the MTD yardbug lawn mower (see picture) and I have very similar problem as this thread shown. I can go in reverse and sometimes I could not go forward. It will go forward for a few minutes then it jerk, then come to a stop. I pressed on the go forward pedal all the way down, but it still not move at all. What check the shift fork next to the transmission, and I have hard time moving it with a flier. Sometimes it move and sometime it don't want to move. I also discovered that both of my forward and reverse cables has only a few strands left because I have to force it many time due. Could the shift fork be broken inside the transmission? When I push the shift fork all the way into the forward gear, it stayed in place and I can only drive in forward direction. What is your suggestion. Thanks.
