Check that deck is level,check that hanger/support arms for deck aren't disconnected,broken or worn causeing deck to shift,remove deck cover & check that tension adjuster for blade/blade belt not frozen due to rust,dirt in same or spring on same broken/disconnected,try replaceing both belts either/both may be worn/streched & belt takeup's on pto,blade/blade may be at the end of their takeup range or if deck rusted/rotted out,same may be twisting/bowing due to lack of strength,also while blade/blade belt off,check that blade bearing assemblies aren't sloppy or tight/binding due to wear.
