Due to fact you didn't post eng make/mod I'm assuming eng is a kohler 18/20 hp magnum,if so you may have an internal problem in eng as these eng have a full pressure pump lube system & an internal relief valve on pump,you may have a worn pump or relief valve going bad,the oil pressure sw usually shuts off eng below 3psi,what you'll probably have to do is make an adapter to screw in place of pressue sw with a temp remote oil pressure gauge(mech or elect)& watch same as eng operating to see if oil pressure drops off to below 3#,goto ebay & search item# 160546484473 and buy cd,it has all service/repair manuals for kohler eng on it,in the lube system section of manual for your mod eng it will explain how system works,manual for m18/20 nla as a free download at kohler site.
