Very old post... but I'd like to add my 2 cents.
I've had my Rider 155 for 8 years now as of Oct 2010. Had a brake cable break early on; took 2 weeks to get it fixed under warranty.
Had to replace a belt idler recently for $60; parts in stock at partstree.com.
I started out mowing 3/4 acre. Now up to 3 acres. Can't beat it if you have a lot of trees, which I do have. It'll out-mow a ZTR hands down.
Only sips gas with the Tecumseh motor. Blades are expensive @ $65/set. I keep 4 sets on hand and rotate them as they need sharpening; about twice per 9 month season.
I do a full maintenance on mine once per year. Use staight 30 wt oil, grease the single bearing, clean & oil the deck rollers, air filter and gas filter change.
Mine's a 41 1/2" deck. Wish they had a 60" with more power, but this one is one fine mower as it is.
