In Reply to: Foote Transaxle Model 4360-6 3rd gear failure posted by David on Monday, February 18, 2002:
: I have a Craftsman lawn tractor with a Foote Foote Transaxle Model 4360-6. All gears work fine except 3rd. 3rd gear lurches very badly and I expected to find broken gear teeth when I disassembled the transaxle. All gears look ok. Likewise, all the gear shafts look ok (drive shaft teeth are fine and inside of gears match up to this shaft good and tight.) The intermediate shaft (one with the clutch collar and clutch keys) looks ok, too. I'm at a loss as to why 3rd gear is so bad. Any ideas?
