Got a carb rebuild kit because inlet needle was worn. Replaced needle , cleaned as much as I could, put new gaskets on & put back on motor. Started up and it ran OK but after 4 or 5 minutes pipe from engine to muffler was orange. I shut it off and it backfired a little and stopped.
Should I take the carb off & completely rebuild? I didn't change the plug yet as it seems to run OK, and I think if the plug wasn't firing it wouldn't run.
I did get a repair manual download from Kohler, but haven't tried adjusting the valves yet.
Would the valves get out of adjustment all of a sudden or would it happen gradually?
Finally the repair manual doesn't say anything about a flywheel key. Where is it located and how do you replace it.
Sorry post is long but I'm really stuck here.
Thanks again
Bob
