I am in the market looking at the Scott's (JD) lawn tractors. I ran across two models, S2046 and S2048. The Scotts 2046 carries a Briggs "Intek" 20 HP, with full pressure spin on oil filter,2 cylinder engine, but a tighter turning radius (18"). The S2048 carries a Kohler 20HP full pressure spin on oil filter, 2 cylinder engine, but has a 20" turning radius. The Deck cutting width, gas capacity, and tire size are the only other differences between the two models. I am more concerned about the engine differences. Should I upgrade to the Kohler model (2048), or is it necessary if I am only cutting a flat terrain with about 2.5 acres of grass (twice a month). The 2048 does have a 48" deck, but I will probably be spending over $500 for the upgrade and 2" of grass cut. I would appreciate any advice on the two engine differences and the Scotts model of JD. - Joe
