: Anyone know how reliable Sears upper line garden tractors are?? Who makes them for Sears?? I have known some who have bought lower line and had trouble with parts availability after few years.
Reply: The upper line Garden tractors are very good and have been basicly the same tractor since 1994-95 with some different hoods and grills. The hi-lo range 6 speed h-pattern shift std transmission is one of the tuffest built. Also their hydro with oil filter is a vg automatic. I am surprised more people don't see the big jump in what their getting by spending $800- extra over the base lawn tractor ( still less than John Deere ) The Kohler V-twin engine has improved much in the Ignition systems from 3 years ago. The 20 22 24hp engines are perfect for these, avoid the 25hp. The bugs have been worked out of the 46" mower decks but do spend time aligning the deck and caster wheels ( owners never do this )Just for your information these tractors have been made by the same people in Orangeburg S.Carolina since the 1950's Parts availability is no problem for new machines every part in the owners book can be in your hand in 5-7 days. ( older 1960-70's models you can find parts on the web site and pricing unless its NLA no longer available ) How do I know so much I work for Sears full time servicing these on the road ( those white vans :)
