to determine internal engine damage or not, remove spark plug(s) PTO off. Ignition/start switch off.
Check crankcase oil level. if too high/too low, not good.
Turn engine by hand from top air screen. Engine should rotate fairly easy. stick a long pencil or such into the plug hole(s). Look for pencil to be moved in and out by the hidden piston. If not, engine has severe engine damage. If so, remove valve cover(s) - observe action of valves - all should moveup and doewn the same distance and all push rods should be seated in their respective rocker arm sockets. If all OK, re-asm valve covers/plugs and check electrical circuits, including main harness fuse usually located behind dash.
