Thanks for the info.
I adjusted the shifter lever so that it will be in the correct gear as indicated on the shifter plastic cover. While doing this adjustment, I discovered the shifter adjustment screw at the bracket and threaded slot were both stripped and would not allow the adjustment to tighten. To fix this, I tack welded the adjuster in the correct position and this appears to had almost fixed the problem. Now, if I lightly pull and hold the shifter handle inward while I am mowing, the bucking/jerking condition disappears.
With this additional info, does this give you some more ideas as to the problem?
I'll check and post back what transaxle is in there.
