Remove the top cover exposing the coil and flywheel, and unplug the small wire plugged into
the bottom of the coil then test for spark. Remove a plug, plug it on the wire and lay it
against the metal of the engine. If you have no
spark then, the coil needs replaced. If it does
need replaced, test the small wire going to the coil for any presence of voltage, as that will also destroy any new coil. It is supposed to go
to ground only to shut off the engine. If there
is voltage, look at damaged wiring, incorrect key switch, etc..
