: I'm in the market for a new, or possibly used, lawn tractor. I have about 1.5 acres, mostly flat, that I need to mow. I've noticed that Sears has a 16hp Kohler-powered and a 16.5hp Briggs-powered lawn tractor on sale right now for about the same price, anyone out there willing to give me some advice as to the pros/cons of each? Also, is the $200 for an automatic tranmission worth it? Thanks in advance.
I wouldn't look at a Briggs after running a Kohler for a few years ....it has given excellent service.
