The starter cranking circuit has 3 safety sw's & a relay breaking feed to starter sol coil after leaving ign sw S term,relay is controlled by float sw on eng to sense oil level(oil sentry)when oil low this operates relay & lights idiot lite on dash lite bar.Got to website below & enlarge/print drawing,this is for a 416(16hp magnum)wiring should be same as 418,see if this gets you out of the woods.
