usually when your problem happens both belts should be replaced and also make sure that the clutch/brake linkage is not binding and moves free,the vari-speed pulley has roller bearings on the top and bottom of the pulley ass'y lube the bearings and make sure that the center of the vari-speed pulley moves free and bushings are not worn,if they are it will bind and this could cause your belt slipping,I have some parts for these.
