Re: What is correct Transaxle Oil?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The original manual that came with my 1972 Sears Suburban 12 states very clearly to use 5 quarts of SAE 30 motor oil for service MM or MS (old classification system) in the transmission. Use any good high quality name brand of SAE 30 HD oil. I've been using it for several years and it has never given so much as a wink of trouble. It shifts easily and solidly into any gear I select, whether I am in hi or low range. The transmission is fairly quiet. I only hear very light gear noise on a grade or when pulling hard on something heavy.
