you should have + 12 volt on + terminal of ignition coil when ign switch is on and the - side of coil should be grounded when points are closed. and ungrounded when points are open. 1st, id check for 12 volt on coil then, using continuity tester, i would check wire from points to - side of coil. then i would check to make sure points are grounding the - wire when they are closed. and, ungrounding - wire when they are open. check at terminal on points where wire attaches to.
