i found the problem.i pulled the pulley off the crankshaft and discoverred that ther is a band that engages the pullies together.the band of clutch material is worn down very thin and a piece is missing.from calling the jd dealer it seems that the band is not available by itself.you have to purchase the whole clutch.is there some place to just buy that band?or just get the whole assembly?i have sent a pic hopefully it works.
