Any info on Kohler vs. Kawasaki engines in JD Mowers?

Just looking for any info that would justify buying the Kawasaki engine over the Kohler in a John Deere lawn tractor. I'm looking at the LX line. Everyone I talk to says the Kawasaki is better, but they don't seem to know why or how many hours they're good for. Any help would be appreciated.
