Well, with L&G power eqpt, one never rules out anything :) But, don't think you need a new head gasket - usually trouble there causes hard starting, power loss, blowing oil, etc.
Yer engine is starting/running strong for a bit and then dying - still points to fuel supply being restricted/stopped or ditto with ignition/spark.
