I have been having trouble with my Craftsman 917250560 which has a Kohler CV22S Vtwin engine. The engine runs fine, however, when the blades are engaged it will run OK for a minute or two and then begin stalling and backfiring. If I turn off the blades it runs like a champ again and as soon as I turn on the blades it stalls again.

I have installed new plugs, air filter, fuel filter and changed the oil since the problem began in an effort to correct it but no luck. It does need a new battery too but that shouldn't cause this problem??
