If that's a dedicated wire (ie., only goes from sw to coil - nothing else), then most likely the coil itself has an internal short letting too much current travel along that particular wire - making it very hot/melting.
Might be worth replacing coil or if yer good with elect diagnosis, ck for the short at least. Yer call...
you might also try a separate fresh length of wire from sw to coil just to be sure that original wire is not faulty..
