Check gas tank fill cap,same may be plugged/defective,try running with cap loose & see if this cures problem,also depending on make/mod of eng,some have fuel pump mounted on carb body,diaphram may be going bad or due to heat,carb body expanding,allowing air to be sucked in around diaphram cover,also check for dirt/water in carb & bottom of tank,bad fuel line between carb & tank(mushy causeing line to collapse when hot)grass,leaves,mouse nest in cooling fins causeing eng to run hot/overheat
