this was common for these if you start your rider and start from 1st gear and shift to a higher gear,lets say you are in 5th gear and stop the engine,the variable speed pulley will still be in 5th gear but will not move forward or reverse,so start your rider,leave shift lever in neutral and the speed selector lever move it to the highest speed 7 or 8 if you have then move the lever back to 1st speed this should reset the pulleys,always stop at 1st speed.
