i traced the seat safety back. it was a two-wire seat safety. the black went to the battery ground post, as expected. i followed the white one forward, but couldn't find it's termination.
i found the brake pressure switch, and attempted to test it by jumpering the two whites together and the two blacks/blues together (as I found on another online help thread). the engine would turn over continually when i hit the starter, but it would not fire.
i called a local john deere service department, and i was instructed that the reverse safety switch is also tied into the same set of start up safeties...? he suggested testing that one next. thoughts?
