Having a problem with my 4518.

Would start fine cold, use it for awhile, then it dies suddenly. Cranks over, won't start. Leave it awhile, then it'll go for another while. Problem is getting worse.

Ordered new cdi. Put in on last night. Tractor runs for about 90 seconds.....quits suddenly.... then won't start....but cranks fine. Leave it 10 minutes.....it'll run for another 90 seconds.

I have spark, so it must be a fuel problem. I'm thinking, but not sure, it's now just burning fuel in carb bowl.

I'm working outside, in winter, was at it till midnight.

Fuel flows freely thru filter, and pump seems to be working.

Tonight I'll check fuel cap vent.....try unplugging fuel solenoid.....remove airbox so that I can see if fuel in float bowl after stall.

I'm now pretty sure I wasted over $200 on wrong part.

Questions are:
1. Tractor should run with solenoid unplugged?
2. What is electronic box next to CDI? Hayward's show it as a control unit(engine). Does this control fuel somehow?
3. Any suggestions on what the problem is.

When it quits, it's sudden/instant, no bucking or hesitation. That's why I was sure it wasn't a fuel problem.

Any suggestions are appreciated.
