The plugs you are talking about behind dash could be relay, fuse holder, bypass plugs or connectors for connections between different wiring harnesses on tractor, without seeing tractor it's hard to tell which is which,I'm only going by pic of wiring & parts for same at sears website,if you don't have an owners manual or if you do and no wiring diag in same of tractor, you've reached "the fork in the road",not to take anything away from you,but if you have limited or no knowledge of electricity or elect circuits,it may be best to let pro's at sears or local mower shop repair,as they work on these things everyday,if you start fooling around with wiring & putting jumpers into circuit without knowing what & where in circuit you are jumpering,it's very easy to burn up wiring harness, safety sw's & elect components & possibly injure yourself from unexpected results when installing jumper(s).If you don't have an owners manual, take a shot & order one at sears website www.searspartsdirect.com enter mod# of tractor, look at end of parts list in any of the breakdowns of tractor, owners manual listed at end of each(if still avail)you are dealing with a 17-18 yr old tractor, elect parts list dated 1/90.
