I do agree with you dave,if pto engaged starter sol will not operate,I went to sears website yesterday & check elect parts list,this is how I picked up on relay,I looked at elect parts list again today along with eng & deck drawings,didn't see a dash pto sw listed in parts list,but I might have missed,no electric clutch listed or shown on eng or mower deck drawings,on mower deck there are pto rods,arm,springs & pulleys listed in parts list,it's anybodys guess what he's got,we'll have to wait & see what he says.
