I just picked up a 99 Scott's S2046. I thought I got it for a very decent price of $500(asked $550)
I noticed oil residue on the chassis under the heads, the exhaust heat was causing some smoking. It runs very good and strong, no missing. The previous owner got it at an auction with some other items just over two weeks ago, so he doesn't know how it was maintained etc. A friend who is a small engine mechanic says its normal for some leaking. I drove it today and it was dripping, not slow and not fast. I couldn't tell where, too dirty under the heads.
The engine is a B & S Intek 20 HP
Questions: Is oil leakage normal/common? How much? Where likely is the source?
Thank you in advance,
Kevin R.
