If you spray gas into carb and the engine starts and keeps running, id check the choke linkage to see if choke plate is closing all the way. also,with due respect to strodie, i wouldnt bypass the carb solenoid. the solenoid closes of fuel flow thru main jet after you shut off engine. without the solenoid the engine will backfire after shut off and will blow muffler baffle loose in muffler after a few backfires.
