Before condeming pump, try a simple test, reassemble gas line that goes between tank & pump, disconnect line at pump inlet, plug hose with a 1/4" or 5/16" bolt, put gas tank end in your mouth, suck air out of line & seal end with your tongue, see if you can hold a vacume on line,if you can't then you have an air leak in line & this is your problem,if you can hold a vac, then problem with pump, either from a bad diaphram, incorrect reassembly, plugged passages in pump body, warped pump body or cover plate & air being sucked in around edges of diaphram, pump houseing cracked, pump diaphram not getting pulses from crankcase, due to loose hose connections, air leak in hose, plugged hose or possible internal problem in eng.
