Michael - We must of been neighbors at one time. I live in the Quad-Cities, but on the west bank of the big muddy.

JD 116s are not very common. Also, not very sought after. $1200 would be out of my range, not because I could not afford it, but because I don't like paying more than what something is worth. It's real hard to find much info on 116s anywhere. The only plus on this deal is the bagger and the blade. But that only adds a couple hundred tops to the value.

Dealers normally charge from $500 to $800 for the tractor with deck in fair to good condition. So from a homeowner, the price should be a bit less. My opinion is, in this case, the seller is asking nearly twice the value. If you want a Deere, don't need new, and don't want to spend a ton of money and yet have something that you can still get parts for, find attachments for, you might want to look toward the older 210/212/214 models. - Dave
